At afarax, we connect top freelance IT professionals with high-impact projects. We are currently seeking an experienced Data Developer / Data Engineer to support one of our clients. The Mission

You will design, build, and optimize data pipelines and transformation flows within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem. Your mission includes contributing to the Lakehouse data model, ensuring solution quality through testing and documentation, and supporting continuous improvement efforts within the data team

Key Responsibilities

Data Ingestion & Transformation

• Develop ingestion pipelines using Fabric Data Factory (and knowledge of Azure Data Factory).

• Build and maintain transformation flows using Fabric Factory Notebooks.

• Optimize transformation queries, especially with attention to Azure cost management.

Data Modeling & Architecture

• Contribute to Lakehouse data modeling.

• Implement and refine the medallion architecture (silver & gold layers) in Microsoft Fabric.

Testing & Documentation

• Define unit testing plans (including automatable tests).

• Execute unit tests and ensure delivery quality.

• Prepare and maintain clear technical documentation.

Continuous Improvement & Support

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (development guidelines, best practices).

• Participate in effort estimation during demand scoping.

• Support production through maintenance and incident resolution.

Your Profile

• Proven experience as a Data Developer or Data Engineer.

• Strong hands-on experience with Cloud Data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).

• Proven expertise in Python and the Spark/PySpark framework.

• Strong command of SQL & T-SQL.

• Experience with Git & CI/CD.

• Solid experience in dimensional modeling.

• Proficiency in Data Lake principles.

• Proven experience in the Azure ecosystem.

• Mastery of Fabric Data Factory and/or Azure Data Factory.

• Understanding of Azure Storage Account / Lakehouse architecture.

• Knowledge of secure development best practices and experience applying them.

• Certifications are a plus:

  • DP-203 – Azure Data Engineer

  • AZ-900 – Azure Fundamentals

  • DP-700 – Fabric Data Engineer Associate

• Knowledge of the Delta format.

• Theoretical knowledge of UML (Class Diagram).

• Experience as a developer on SAP BO/DS.

• Strong experience with DAX and Power BI.

• Proficiency with Synapse Spark, Fabric, or Databricks.
