Our client in the banking sector is seeking a freelance Solution Architect to strengthen their team in a modern agile environment.

The mission

As a Solution Architect, you will support agile delivery teams by designing robust, scalable, and future-proof solutions that align business needs, legacy systems, and innovative technologies.

Key responsibilities

Solution architecture & design

• Design end-to-end solution architectures supporting high-volume, high-transaction environments.

• Define architectural frameworks and patterns aligned with enterprise standards.

• Document and address data structures, system requirements, and solution designs across the full lifecycle.

• Produce and maintain architecture documentation and ArchiMate diagrams.

Digital transformation & innovation

• Work with existing legacy systems while proposing innovative approaches to modernize platforms.

• Introduce and evaluate cloud-based and emerging technologies to improve scalability and efficiency.

• Contribute architectural expertise to initiatives involving mobile applications and web platforms.

Agile collaboration

• Join agile teams on a daily basis to support solution delivery.

• Translate stakeholder needs into architectural solutions.

• Support prioritization and architectural decision-making within agile ceremonies.

• Ensure alignment between business objectives, architecture, and delivery constraints.

Enterprise & regulatory alignment

• Ensure solutions comply with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements, including GDPR and PSD2.

• Take into account enterprise constraints linked to large organizational structures and complex governance.

• Provide architectural guidance across domains such as cards, payments, CRM, accounting, and lending.

Is this you?

• Fluent in written and spoken English.

• Good knowledge of Dutch and French.

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

• TOGAF certification.

• Minimum 5 years (preferably 10) of multi-disciplined IT experience (development, analysis, etc.).

• 4–5 years of experience as a Solution Architect in large, complex organizations.

• Experience in high-volume / high-transaction environments.

• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms.

• Ability to design and document architecture frameworks and solution designs.

• Experience with ArchiMate.

• Exposure to mobile applications and web-based systems.

• Broad business and domain knowledge.

• Experience working in environments with mainframe systems (functional awareness required).

• Exposure to advanced technologies such as machine learning, data mining, NLP, or deep learning.

• Domain knowledge in private loans, leasing, card payments, CRM, and accounting is a strong asset.
