At afarax, we connect top freelance IT professionals with high-impact projects. We are currently seeking an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to support one of our clients in the banking sector. This role offers the opportunity to industrialize machine learning solutions and deploy AI models in production within a large, regulated environment.

The Mission

You will work closely with Data Scientists and IT Production teams to design, automate, deploy, and operate machine learning solutions in production. Your role will focus on ML pipelines, infrastructure selection, CI/CD integration, monitoring, and operational reliability, ensuring that AI solutions meet both business and technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities

ML Solution Design & Production Engineering

• Work with Data Scientists to define and develop target solutions with production constraints in mind.

• Select appropriate runtime infrastructure and serving models (e.g. ingestion schemes, synchronous/asynchronous APIs).

• Ensure solutions meet business requirements such as real-time responses and processing volumetry.

ML Pipeline Automation & Deployment

• Contribute to the automation of ML pipelines to support integration and deployment into production environments.

• Build and maintain Docker or VM images.

• Prepare and execute unit, regression, and integration tests.

• Support CI/CD processes for ML workloads.

Platform & Operations Support

• Support Data Scientists in using existing industrial AI platforms to build and monitor AI services.

• Assist IT Production teams with the parameterization and configuration of target environments.

• Ensure models:

  • Run without errors

  • Are retrained when required (including automated retraining)

  • Are monitored from both IT and business perspectives

Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

• Ensure proper code, model, and data versioning.

• Monitor performance, reliability, and data quality.

• Apply model optimization and compression techniques when relevant.

Your Profile

Required Experience & Skills

• At least 6 years of relevant experience.

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

• Strong experience with:

  • Containerization

  • AI platforms & IDEs

  • CI/CD pipelines

  • Cloud computing services

  • Relational databases

  • Swagger / schema definitions

  • ML packages and libraries

  • Code, model, and data versioning

• English mandatory; Dutch and/or French are a plus.
